First, thanks for your interest in studying or working at Duke. If you've been directed to this page, please accept my apologies that I cannot provide you with a personalized answer. I receive far too many inquiries to be able to respond to each one personally. Moreover our decisions are made by committees and it would be inappropriate for me to speak for these committees.
If you are interested in a graduate degree in computer science: Please visit our web page for prospective students for answers to most of your questions. Please note that individual faculty members do not make admissions decisions. Our admissions decisions are made by committee. The decision by an individual faculty member to advise a particular graduate student is made after the student has matriculated. I am generally interested in adding excellent students to my research gruop. I cannot offer any additional information on the projected availability of funds or the compatibility of a potential student-advisor pairing at this time.
If you are interested in an internship or postdoc: I have no funds budgeted or projected for this.
If you are a Duke undergraduate looking to do a research project during the semester or a U.S. undergraduate looking to do a summer research project: I am not looking to recruit undergraduate students at this time.
If you are looking for a tenure track faculty position at Duke: Please visit our web page for prospective faculty. Hiring decisions are made by the entire department, so it would be inappropriate for me to comment on your chances of getting an interview or offer.
